Malaika Mihambo’s parents: her religion
Malaika Mihambo was born in Germany to a Tanzanian father (from Zanzibar) and a German mother. These are the details available about her parents. We will update you as soon as we have more information available.
She chose Germany over Tanzania as her country of citizenship because she was born and raised there. But even if she wanted to represent Tanzania, she would be difficult for her because of Tanzania’s ban on dual citizenship, which would require her to renounce German citizenship.

Furthermore, it is possible that German law only allows dual citizenship in certain circumstances, so this would violate German law.
For Tanzanian sports fans whose primary interest is football, long jump and Malaika Mihambo might appear slightly arcane and out of their depth.
